Dr. Vidal promoted to full professor in BME

02/12/2016

reneThe Institute for Computational Medicine is pleased to announce that ICM core faculty member Rene Vidal was recently promoted to a full professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Vidal also holds appointments in the Center for Imaging Science (CIS) and the Laboratory for Computational Sensing and Robotics (LCSR), and is the director of the Vision Dynamics and Learning Lab.

Dr. Vidal’s research consists of biomedical image analysis, computer vision, machine learning, dynamical systems theory and robotics. He is particularly interested in the development of mathematical methods for the interpretation of high-dimensional data, such as images, videos, and biomedical data.

Dr. Vidal’s Don P. Giddens Inaugural Professorial Lecture will be held on Wednesday, March 2 at 4:00 pm in Gilman Hall, followed by a reception in his honor. In a lecture entitled “Teaching Machines to See”, Dr. Vidal will describe his work developing methods that enable computers to see, analyze, and interpret images, videos, and biomedical data.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Rene Vidal on this achievement!
