Sophia Zhai receives 2022 Provost’s Undergraduate Research Award

11/02/2022

Sophia Zhai, a junior in biomedical engineering, is a recipient of the 2022 Provost’s Undergraduate Research Award (PURA). Sophia will be working on her proposal titled, “Virtual Stimulation of Interictal Stereo-EEG to Localize the Epileptogenic Zone” in the lab of ICM core faculty member Sridevi Sarma, associate professor of biomedical engineering. Sophia’s project hypothesizes that excitability and response to stimuli will modulate as the brain develops epilepsy.

PURA was established in 1993 by The Hodson Trust to encourage undergraduates to engage in independent research, scholarly, and creative activities. PURA provides recipients with $3000 to support research under the guidance of a JHU mentor.
