Millie Shah receives a Spring 2011 Provost’s Undergraduate Research (PURA) Award

04/11/2011

Millie Shah, a biomedical engineering undergraduate student in the lab of Feilim Mac Gabhann, has been awarded a 2011 Provost’s Undergraduate Research (PURA) Award for her project entitled “Computational Modeling of VEGF and sFlt-1 to Stimulate Preeclampsia and Evaluate Treatments”.

“For [her] PURA project, [she] developed a computer model that depicts the activity of these proteins that stimulate or suppress the growth of blood vessels in order to test our ideas about how they are linked to preeclampsia. [They] are using this model to determine whether monitoring these proteins could be used for early diagnosis, prevention or treatment of preeclampsia.”

Read the full story about her research here in the JHU Gazette.

Congratulations to Mille for her award, and good luck on your research!
